Director

Peter Vanderpluym

Peter has over 10 years’ experience in the construction industry working across many disciplines from estimating to production planning and project management.

Peter is of Torres Strait Islander heritage and, in 2019, he became the first Indigenous Commercial Estimator and Project Manager for a well-respected Queensland builder. In 2021, he took on the role of Bid Manager, leading its Estimating Department company-wide, and continues to work in partnership with the commercial heavyweight to achieve ICA’s mission. Balancing full-time work with part time study over 8 years, Peter achieved his Bachelor of Construction Management (Building) (Honours) in 2022, completing his studies with First Class Honours.

Ben Grant

Ben is a qualified solicitor, and has over 10 years’ experience negotiating, advising on, and administering construction contracts.

Ben holds a Master of Laws (Distinction), London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), University of Queensland.

Indigenous Partnerships Officer

Geoffrey Villalba

Geoffrey is of Torres Strait Islander heritage and has over 35 years of experience working for state and Federal governments, before joining the construction industry in 2013.

As Indigenous Partnerships Officer for ICA, Geoffrey ensures the company meets its employment and training commitments when delivering Indigenous projects, as well as developing and nurturing productive partnerships with Indigenous communities and businesses.

Geoffrey represents ICAs at various business and government forums and, for the past nine years, he has also been an active member of the Indigenous Participation in Construction Committee – a joint Industry and Queensland Government Committee seeking innovative ways to increase Indigenous employment and business participation in construction.
